Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actress, singer and songwriter for a number of years. Raised by her mother in the USA she had to face a lot of racial taunts and made her feel being unwanted. In the 9th grade, she began to feel more confident when she was praised by her teachers for singing at a school's audition. It not only boosted her confidence but also shifted her career ambition. In 1992, she received her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. She began her career when she was 23 years old, appearing in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and the film You've Got Mail. Her most memorable break came from her role as The Lady of The Lake as she appeared in the original Broadway version of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great praise for the role. Following that, in 2007, she was cast in the ABC show Grey's Anatomy and became more well-known. Known as a singer she released her own single and an extended show. As an activist, she is a tireless advocate to promote LGBT equality.
